THrash it out once and for all

THis is more for the girls, though it applies to all 4e1-ers.

If you have anything against someone, or if you feel unhappy about what someone has done or said to you, please go ahead full-steam and thrash it out with the other party. On blog, via hp, face to face... anything. Just don't keep it to yourselves and start to drift apart, ok?

I don't understand why some of us used to be able to thrash things out but now we choose not to, because this makes it hard for us to open up. If we open up, even if we quarrel, we will at least know what each other is thinking about. If we don't, it will only deepen the misunderstanding. And that doesn't help either party at all.

If you are afraid of quarrels because you think it will cause awkwardness, you are wrong. I had that major fight with Yu Rui and Geline but we are fine now! In fact, now that I know what they were unhappy about I can do something about it.

But if you avoid a confrontation and swallow all your unhappiness, you will only accumulate it. It won't disappear just because it is out of sight. Don't be such an ostrich.

Don't just dismiss anything as "others won't understand". If they don't understand, all the more you must say it out loud and make them understand!!! You cannot wait for them to chew on it and think it through, which most probably will not happen because we are all so busy now.

I've said my piece. Now its time for those whom I was referring to to do something fast.

Day One (1/7)

- Everyone went to chalet at different timings, but met up for dinner at Harbourfront Centre.
- Walked back to the Seng Im Food Centre or something to eat.
- Night activity: enjoy the sea breeze at night at Siloso Beach, being the biggest group around and making noise hahaahhahahhah...
- Sleep was scary, for some of us who was "molested" hahaha. Those who know the joke don't say out lah, wait Geline..... OOPS! I disclosed too much.

Day Two (2/7)

- The official birthday of the Meteor [Weeds] Garden!!! Hahahahhahahhahaha shh! Our little secret.
- Had brunch at Delifrance.
- Sara was unwell.
- Beach, sun, sea, sand, tan, frisbee, volleyball, watching couples tie bikinis in water.......
- BBQ!!!
- Strawberries, blue berries, and alcohol.
- Games.

Day Three (3/7)

- Dawn: 2.6km night walk for some of us.
- Dawn: Squeezing into the room and sleeping as best as we could.
- Wake up, wash up, pay up, pack up.
- Brunch at Harbourfront Centre's Yoshinoya.
- Took cabs home.

The History Of Strawberries!!!!

"Doubtless God could have made a better berry, but doubtless God never did." (Dr. William Butler, 17th Century English Writer) Dr. Butler is referring to the strawberry. Strawberries are the best of the berries. The delicate heart-shaped berry has always connoted purity, passion and healing. It has been used in stories, literature and paintings through the ages.

In Othello, Shakespeare decorated Desdemonda's handkerchief with symbolic strawberries.

Madame Tallien, a prominent figure at the court of the Emperor Napoleon, was famous for bathing in the juice of fresh strawberries. She used 22 pounds per basin, needless to say, she did not bathe daily.

In parts of Bavaria, country folk still practice the annual rite each spring of tying small baskets of wild strawberries to the horns of their cattle as an offering to elves. They believe that the elves, who are passionately fond of strawberries, will help to produce healthy calves and abundance of milk in return.

The American Indians were already eating strawberries when the Colonists arrived. The crushed berries were mixed with cornmeal and baked into strawberry bread. After trying this bread, Colonists developed their own version of the recipe and Strawberry Shortcake was created.

In Greek and Roman times, the strawberry was a wild plant.

The English "strawberry" comes from the Anglo-Saxon "streoberie" not spelled in the modern fashion until 1538.

The first documented botanical illustration of a strawberry plant appeared as a figure in Herbaries in 1454.

In 1780, the first strawberry hybrid "Hudson" was developed in the United States.

Legend has it that if you break a double strawberry in half and share it with a member of the opposite sex, you will fall in love with each other.

The strawberry was a symbol for Venus, the Goddess of Love, because of its heart shapes and red color.

Queen Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII had a strawberry shaped birthmark on her neck, which some claimed proved she was a witch.

To symbolize perfection and righteousness, medieval stone masons carved strawberry designs on altars and around the tops of pillars in churches and cathedrals.

The wide distribution of wild strawberries is largely from seeds sown by birds. It seems that when birds eat the wild berries the seeds pass through them intact and in reasonably good condition. The germinating seeds respond to light rather than moisture and therefore need no covering of earth to start growing.

Medicinal Uses

The strawberry, a member of the rose family, is unique in that it is the only fruit with seeds on the outside rather than the inside. Many medicinal uses were claimed for the wild strawberry, its leaves and root.

The ancient Romans believed that the berries alleviated symptoms of melancholy, fainting, all inflammations, fevers, throat infections, kidney stones, halitosis, attacks of gout, and diseases of the blood, liver and spleen.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan.
Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6,B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When were stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal ofMedicine,"eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with theyellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster orsurgicaltape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. Step 1) Find a garlic of suitable size.

Step 2) Find a pot, fill it with soil. Moisten the soil, but don't flood it.

Step 3) DO NOT remove the skin of the garlic. It serves to protect the shoot from excess moisture and insects. Put the whole garlic into the soil, right side up. If you don't know which is the right side, look for the end with the most pointed head.

Step 4) Bury the garlic, literally, leaving a bit of opening is ok. Then spray some water.

*IMPORTANT!* Garlics do not like water. DO NOT water them every day. Water them alternately, sometimes even once every two days. Too much water will kill it.

Step 5) You feel that it has been several weeks and no sign of progress. You begin to plan an assasination on TR. STOP!!! The garlic is a slow bloomer, literally. Be patient with it, and continue looking after it.

Step 6) You suddenly realised the skin of the garlic is loose. Only remove it when it is totally loose from the garlic itself.

Step 7) Repeat: DO NOT water the plant every single day.

So far my garlic shoot has grown into a 15cm tall plant.

For your information, the plant looks something like grass. It is a long thin green blade.

I do not know whether it will flower, but I sure hope it will. If your garlic flowers, please move it to the window, in case it stinks. I've heard garlic flowers do smell....... =)

Anyway the chalet will be done by the girls. When I said I would do it with Geline and Marcus I meant it, but Marcus is busy so he can't. Geline and Shurui works as a team, anyone knows that. And they told me that this chalet will be done by the girls, so we settled on that.

How does it make you our "chu qi tong"??? Please, you said to go to you for help, but we don't need any help right now! And if you feel like you have to cintribute to this chalet just tell us, its not as if we are outcasting anyone from the planning.

Please lah you should try not to exaggerate situations. Please try to curb your excessive imagination, alright?

we were discussing of the chalet.. it is impossible to hold the chalet in june... coz the poly student r not having any break... their break in may n hmm.. i dunno le.. so maybe will hold it in july... n if wan to hold it, muz make sure its a wkn... so tt those in ns can make it too... n oso muz make sure those who r working can make it too... haa.. so alot of consideration to be considered... but any thingy muz be discussed n decided soon... if not no space le.. btw tr, uni starts in aug 1st.. so there's is no hurry to have tt chalet in june..

Well, I know all of us have received our yearbooks. Just wondering, is there any other JC besides dear JJC, which came up with a CD yearbook instead of a proper yearbook? Honestly that was like the dumbest idea, to me at least. If it had been a proper yearbook I can scan the pics of me: as the class rep at Grad Nite, and the CCA Open house pic in which I was dressed like some sailor tart LOL!!!! Argh I love those two pictures, why didn't they allow us a proper yearbook???!!!!! Argh.. NOT FAIR!!!!!

Anyway, erm, guys... I am hoping for another chalet, but I hope without the previous "incidents" ok? Eh, can set it at ard June, before we go into Uni.

Dearies/Babes and Chicks, our Judgement Day is on this Friday.

Now please read this carefully: DO NOT put to much pressure on yourselves, alright? This is different from the O Levels. No one is expecting you to obtain results that are on par with your O Levels results. If you did better, then congrats. If not, then you should be glad you are not doing it this year. You did your best. Even if the results are not up to expectations, its not the end of the world. There are always ways out of it. No one is expecting you to reach the moon, you know what I mean? Don't put yourself in a Superman/Wonderwoman role and believe in all the expectations heaped upon you by others.

We are all friends, so no one will look down on anyone who does worse. And we will not be jealous of anyone who did better. We also do not expect each other to obatin grades as good as those we got in 2002. That would have been too unfair. We only wish each other the best, and hope we can pull through this together.

Please be kind to yourself, and keep in mind that everyone is by your side for Judgement Day. No matter what grade you get, good or bad, we are always here. A slip of paper and a few alphabets cannot change the way we view each other as friends. And it will definitely not cause us to expect too much of a friend.

The O level results this year

Ok Dearies/Babes and Chicks!!! The Top Scorer in Dunearn Sec Sch this year got 6 points, beating our batch... finally. But according to Emay, we had 3 people with 8 distinction, while they had only 2, so we still beat them in a way.

Kudos to us!!! We can stand our ground for the 3rd year after we graduate. Man, are we the Unbeatables or what???

Forget the previous testing post. Hey guys!!! I have created this blog partly as a test of how lousy I am at creating blogs. now you all can see that I am not that lousy after all right? Hahahahha I tried a whole afternoon on one experimental blog, one private blog, then finally found the courage to create a blog from scratch!!!! Yippeeyyy to me!!!!!
